Easter Eggs that many missed in Crash Bandicoot 4

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time was released in 2020 as the long-awaited sequel to the beloved platform game franchise. Developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision, the game has brought back the classic, challenging gameplay that fans love, along with a brand-new story and characters.

Furthermore, Crash Bandicoot 4 it also hides a number of fun Easter Eggs and references to other games and pop cultures. In this article, we’ll explore some of those Easter eggs that many people may have missed during their adventure with Crash and friends.

Konami’s Frog

One of the most notable references in Crash Bandicoot 4 is the “Toad of Konami”. In the “Run It Bayou” level, players can find a giant frog in a hidden area. This frog is a tribute to the famous Konami logo, a company known for creating classic games like Contra and Castlevania.

References to Other Games in the Franchise

Crash Bandicoot 4 makes several amusing references to previous games in the series. In certain stages, you can find statues that represent iconic bosses from previous games, such as Ripper Roo and Pinstripe Potoroo. These statues are a nostalgic nod to longtime fans of the franchise.

Level “Thar He Blows!” and the Killer Whale

In the “Thar He Blows!” level, there is a giant whale that comes out of the water to try to devour Crash and Coco. This sequence is a direct reference to the classic 1975 film “Jaws”, directed by Steven Spielberg. The scene where the whale appears is a recreation of the moment when the shark emerges from the water to attack.

Spyro and Cortex Appearances

Throughout Crash Bandicoot 4, you can find brief appearances by other famous characters from the games, such as Spyro, the purple dragon, and Dr. Neo Cortex. These cameos are little Easter eggs that reference Crash’s expanded universe and give fans an extra dose of nostalgia.

The hidden mask Aku Aku

In some levels of the game, players can find a hidden wooden mask that is not Aku Aku, but a mysterious character. This mask is called “Uka Uka” and is the evil brother of Aku Aku. Finding this secret mask is a reward for players who are willing to carefully explore each level.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time offers an exciting and nostalgic experience for fans of the franchise. Furthermore, the game is full of Easter Eggs and fun references that many people may have missed on their first playthrough.
