How to Install Apps on Apple Watch

Apple Watch is a versatile smart device that allows users to perform a wide range of tasks, such as tracking physical activity, sending messages and receiving notifications.

In addition, the Apple Watch it also allows users to install apps directly onto the device. In this article, we are going to explain step by step how to install apps on Apple Watch.


Before you start, it’s important to note that not all apps are compatible with the Apple Watch. To check if an app is supported, check the app’s description in the App Store. If the app has an Apple Watch version, this will be mentioned in the description.

Step 1: Check the watchOS version

Before you start installing apps on your Apple Watch, make sure your device is running the latest version of watchOS. To check the watchOS version, follow these steps:

  • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Tap the My Watch tab.
  • Tap General > Software Update.
  • If an update is available, follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the update.

Step 2: Download and install apps

There are several ways to download and install apps on Apple Watch. We’ll cover two of the most common ways: using the Watch app on your iPhone and using the App Store on your Apple Watch.

Using the Watch app on iPhone:


  • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Tap the App Store tab.
  • Browse apps and tap on an app you want to install.
  • Tap Get or the app’s price to download it.
  • Once downloaded, the app should automatically appear on your Apple Watch. If it doesn’t, go to the My Watch tab in the Watch app, scroll down to the apps section and tap
  • Add next to the app you just downloaded.

Using the App Store on Apple Watch:

  • Tap the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch to open the Home screen.
  • Tap the App Store icon.
  • Use the Digital Crown to scroll through app categories or use the search option to find a specific app.
  • When you find an app you want to install, tap on it.
  • Tap Get or the app’s price to download it.
  • The app should automatically appear on your Apple Watch after downloading. If it doesn’t, go to the My Watch tab in the Watch app, scroll down to the apps section and tap
  • Add next to the app you just downloaded.

Step 3: Organize apps

Once you’ve installed some apps on your Apple Watch, it’s important to organize them for easy access. You can do this in the following way:

Tap the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch to open the Home screen.
Tap and hold an app until it starts to shake.
Use the Digital Crown to move the app to a new position or remove the app.
