We know that Freedom of Expression is a fundamental right in society, allowing us to express our opinions without fear of retaliation from others. Similarly, it permits information to be received through various means, independently and without censorship.
In other words, Freedom of Expression means the right to voice personal or group opinions, always with respect and supported by the truthfulness of information. It is important to point out that this right is guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is rarely mentioned in these contexts.
In practice, the relationship between the media and freedom of expression is essential for us to live in an evolved society, where opinions uphold democracy. The media encompasses the means that expand the possibilities of various forms of expression, such as written and visual art.
The right to express oneself does not mean there are no ethical or moral boundaries. Thus, defamation and acts of slander are not allowed, as such actions would violate rights that should be preserved.
For this reason, I decided to record this special episode discussing the preservation of expression rights across all forms of communication, including the internet. I also take the opportunity to mention the recent acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, which has been surrounded by controversies.
