Created by Flávio de Souza and director Cao Hamburger, the show follows Nino, a little wizard over 300 years old who, despite sharing his castle with various magical creatures, feels lonely. He lives with his aunt, the witch Morgana, and his uncle, the wizard‑scientist Victor.

Nino must stay with his relatives because his parents are on a journey through space. Lonely, the 300‑year‑old boy casts a spell that brings three children into the castle: Zeca, Biba and Pedro. Nino also welcomes unexpected visitors—pizza delivery man Bongô, TV reporter Penélope, the forest sprite Caipora, the alien Etevaldo, and the scheming Dr. Abobrinha, who constantly tries to buy the castle to tear it down and build a 100‑story tower.

Other recurring characters include the mischievous twins Tíbio and Perônio, and the ever‑helpful Telekid, famous for declaring, “Because ‘no’ is not an answer!” Many catchphrases became part of viewers’ memories: Uncle Victor’s “Lightning and thunder!,” “Because ‘no’ is not an answer,” and “Birdie, what’s that sound?,” among others.

“Castelo Rá‑Tim‑Bum” ran from 1994 to 1997 and remains a beloved Brazilian children’s classic—undoubtedly one of TV Cultura’s finest productions. Did this show mark your childhood? Share your memories! 🙂
