Rayman Legends is the latest installment in Ubisoft’s best-known 2D/3D platforming series, and it’s here to stay! The game initially launched on Nintendo Wii U, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 with its stunning design, precise gameplay, and boundless creativity. Check out my full review and find out if Rayman Legends is worth playing!
Rayman Legends hit the Brazilian market in 2013 for the previous-gen consoles and PC with one clear mission: to maintain the high quality and fun of its brilliant predecessor, Rayman Origins, released in late 2011 (which was outstanding!). So the game builds on that strong foundation to deliver an even more solid and enjoyable experience—and Ubisoft nailed it! The classic campaign progression works flawlessly, just as before.
That means that beyond simply finishing levels, you’ll need to collect additional points to unlock new paths. There’s no limit on lives or dreaded “Game Over,” making the whole experience far more friendly and fun.
Every level in Rayman Legends can be tackled solo or in local multiplayer for up to four players. Unlike many platformers that become chaotic in group play, Legends offers a finely tuned, extremely fun co‑op experience.
At each world’s end, you face epic boss battles that add fresh mechanics on victory. Frogs, dragons, and other towering foes stand between Rayman and glory in Legends.
As you can see above, the graphical quality leaps forward from the previous title (Rayman Origins). There’s little to criticize here—Legends looks gorgeous on every platform, with vibrant, playful environments and characters.
Ubisoft wisely kept the core gameplay intact. The synchronization between character and environment feels spot‑on.
Attack controls respond exactly as expected, adding depth to the rich toolbox of moves. Certain levels even shake up the controls—like when Rayman becomes a chicken, moving slowly with modest jumps.
Even in extreme scenarios, the gameplay remains flawless. The classic ear‑helicopter glide pairs perfectly with levels full of chasms, letting you navigate with Rayman’s signature flutter.
Once again, Ubisoft’s gorgeous watercolor art style returns, bursting with vibrant colors and charming designs. Everything on screen is animated with such care that the backgrounds feel alive.
While Rayman races through the foreground, enemies, effects, and interactable elements fill the background, creating an astonishing visual tapestry for series fans.
On the audio front, Legends impresses with its finely tuned soundtracks. Completing each world treats you to a joyous musical sequence where every action of your hero contributes to the beat.
