Leo’s Fortune is a game in which we follow the story of Leopold: a small furball with a mustache. The game’s narrative is very well crafted and at the same time fun, where you discover and learn a lot as you play. There’s no doubt you’ll enjoy this long adventure.
The game features a perfect blend of 2D and 3D platforming, similar to titles like: Rayman. The character can run and jump over various obstacles, and gains different abilities in each environment. For example, when in water, he can contract and then expand.
The story is very well written, explaining the real reason you must collect many gold coins—something few games do nowadays. Another positive point is that everything is fully localized in Brazilian Portuguese, with translated menus and excellent subtitles.
For some users, guiding the character might seem tricky, but it’s actually much easier than it looks. You simply place your thumbs on each side of your iDevice’s screen.
The right side of the screen controls movement, while the left side controls the character’s ability to inflate or deflate. This same ability is used both to “jump” and to “shrink” to fit through tight spaces in the levels.
The game includes 19 levels total, each set in “lush” environments such as: magnificent forests, moss-covered ruins, sandy deserts, pirate towns, snowy mountains, and more!
The initial download size is only 97.6 MB. However, once you reach level 7 you’ll need an internet connection to complete the download, bringing the final size to 271.2 MB.
The most fun and engaging part is that, to track down the Nefarious Thief, you must solve a variety of cleverly designed puzzles, with a difficulty curve that’s smooth and almost imperceptible.
At first, the game doesn’t feel challenging. However, some levels only unlock after completing prior ones. Over time, you master controlling this charming, mustachioed furball.
The polish and quality shine through on a touchscreen device. It’s hard to find flaws in a game that earned Apple’s WWDC Apple Design Award at WWDC 2014!
Final Conclusion: Leo’s Fortune is one of the rare games without any in‑app purchases. It boasts a fantastic soundtrack, incredibly detailed graphics that rival console titles, and no paywalls—just pure, delightful platforming.
