The Nintendo is a Japanese video game company founded in 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi. Initially, the company produced playing cards called “Hanafuda”, but later expanded into other types of games. Here are some interesting facts about Nintendo:
1 – The word “Nintendo” means “Leave Luck to Heaven” in Japanese.
2 – Nintendo released its first game console, called the Famicom, in 1983 in Japan. The Western version of the console, known as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), was released in 1985 in the United States.
3 – The character Super Mario, one of Nintendo’s most famous characters, was originally created as an arcade game character called “Donkey Kong”. He later got his own series of games and became one of the company’s most popular characters.
4 – Nintendo released its first portable console, the Game Boy, in 1989. The Game Boy was an immediate success and sold more than 118 million units worldwide.
5 – Nintendo launched its first game console with 3D graphics, the Nintendo 64, in 1996. The console was a commercial success and brought popular games such as “Super Mario 64” and “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”.
6 – Nintendo released its latest game console, the Nintendo Switch, in 2017. The Switch is a hybrid console that can be used in both handheld and tabletop mode and has been a commercial success, selling over 80 units. million units worldwide.
