“Courage the Cowardly Dog” tells the story of Courage, a dog who’s easily scared and lives on a farm with Muriel and Eustace Bagge in the fictional town of Nowhere, Kansas. Abandoned as a puppy, Courage was found in an alley by sweet-natured Muriel Bagge and her grumpy, money‑obsessed husband Eustace, who delights in frightening him.
Created by John R. Dilworth and produced by Cartoon Network from 1999 to 2002, Courage ran for 52 episodes over 4 seasons. A dog living with an elderly couple might seem ordinary, but Nowhere is teeming with monsters, aliens, demons, ghosts, and the like—creatures that always menace Muriel and Eustace, and it’s up to Courage to protect his owners.
Despite being extremely timid and fearful, when push comes to shove, Courage somehow manages to save Muriel and Eustace. Whenever a new creature appears, he consults his talking computer—yes, fantastic technology in such an isolated place—and researches how to defeat the threat online.
After much sweat, fright, and tears—both of pain and fear—Courage rescues his owners, often without them ever realizing the danger. “Courage the Cowardly Dog” is hilarious and endlessly entertaining. Chances are you’ve seen at least one episode and felt curious to learn more. Good news: “Courage the Cowardly Dog” is available on Netflix! 🙂
